Some of the folks here have recommended using Extend on rust. I have used it but find it does not last as long as another product named POR-15. It is harder to get POR-15 (Paint Over Rust is the acronym, I believe) but you can find sources in Hemmings Motor News. I have been using POR-15 for years on my antique cars and it is the best product I know to treat rust with. Good for places that you do not see, like frame and undercarriage. Not good for places you can see, like the exterior of your car, as it goes on thick. Only avaialable in clear, silver and black as far as I know. If a part of your car is just starting to rust, try POR-15 on it.
