I would recommend doing the conversion....mainly for 2 reasons 12 is being phased out for "1" and for "2" R-12 is not very pure anymore (basically you don't know what you are getting!!!!! I "Am" an indie here in PA and I have been converting all the car's that have dead system's for several year's..if done correctly I have been getting them to blow 35 deg. going down the road with and ambient temp of about 85 deg.!!!(however not all will go to 35) I like the stuff personally...for one it's cheaper than 12 by about 1/4 of the cost (and A/C system's will leak "eventually "again)and for two it is supposedly ozone safe?.....However the mol. are "BIGGER" and it will run higher pressure's causing more engine bog down...and it will make the car run warmer....Bascially though if done correctly, as an "indie" you are doing the customer a favor in the long run!......As for the whinny compressor you are mistaken ! 134-A take's a lesser charge than R-12!!!........So there is some food for thought ....good luck
