Anders, thanks for the response. First of all, I am installing the new lock cylinder with the key between the P and G positions so that the side pin will retract and the cylinder will go into its 1" diameter (appox.) hole. However, the cylinder won't go down far enough for the side pin to pop out and engage into the side hole of the 1" hole. This fails to happen because the wire that comes out of the tongued wheel at the bottom of the hole is too far out and won't retract far enough. It cannot go into the bottom of the lock cylinder because the key is all the way to the bottom of it and blocks it. And you cannot take the key out because it only comes out when the side pin engages in the small side hole of the 1" hole. So, should I cut the wire, or how can I get it to go down the hole. Also, is it a key detector? Thanks.
