Thanks Anders for your followup! It's nice to know that someone cares. I fixed it, however. Actually, I was very precise about the key position and the split/tongued cam position. The cam can only back off completely when it is in reverse. The key can only come out of the cylinder when it can be turned completely to the off position (it must be in reverse). I was having problems because the key blocked the wire and I couldn't "seat" the cylinder. The wire was pulled out too high but I hammered it back down tand then inserted the cylinder. I found out that the wire should only protrude about 1/16 of an inch above the split/tongued cam. Mine was up about an inch. Anyway, it was 64 degrees in Bangor, Maine and my daughter and I opened the sunroof and took a glorious ride in the sun.
Background: I had been travelling through the month of March for business and the 911 security guards at the airport forgot to put my keys back into my briefcase after I was frisked and heavily inspected. I was really stupid to have not kept a copy of the key. My car had to be towed home where I drilled out the lock. Anyway, I learned a valuable lesson from this. Thanks again for your interest and help!!!
