For me, if the body is solid and most things work, I would say that you have a good deal. The one thing you cannot really see was how much rust was bondoed over before painting. If it was done this way, you will see in a year or 2. I would start with things one at a time and repair what you can. It is much better built than the ford IMO.
power steering is an issue for many C900's. Contamination ends up eating away at the insides. use only power steering fluid - not tranny fluid. Probably the rack, but it may just be missing a drive belt on the pump. See if you can put some fluid in it and diagnose where it is failed. The alternator problem is probably the regulator or brushes. If the brushes are worn and not making contact with the rotor, that is probably it. A reglator w/brushes is about 50.00. Brushes are 5.00. If this does not fix it, it may be a diode internal to the alt. Regulator can be replaced in situ. these cars are easy to work on IMO. Get a Bentley repair manual form one of the sponsors and you will be on your way. This is a great board and the members really try to help others here. good luck
