So i fix any air leaks in the vacuum system and the car still idles high. I haven't had a tune-up in MANY years (at least 5+) so after replacing the spark plugs, wires, distributor and rotor i attempt to adjust the timing.
I aim the timing light on the fly wheel and i can't see the peg that i used white out on the day before. So i start turning the distributor and low and behold, the idle comes down!! I find the white peg and line it up with the marking on the cover and take a look at the tachometer... ~850 RPMs!! Happy Dance in the garage, circling the car, and VERY pleased with myself. I decide to take a victory lap around the block in the car...
Well, i now have NO PICK UP. The exhaust sounds very loud and the car has absolutely now power.
PLEASE... where did i screw up. I'm ready <bite my tongue> to just bring the car to a mechanic and have him deal with it.
