If i am not mistaken on an 85 900s, the timing is set by the EZk ECU system. You have probably set the timing beyond the range of auto adjustment. Rotate distributor back where it was(exact is irrelevant). You need to track down a stubborn vacuum leak or fix a problem with your intake, AIC valve, or TPS switch. Recheck vacuum hoses with a mity vac or get a propane torch and "spray" propane all over your intake system. idle will increase when you find a leak. don't forget intake manifold gasket, injector oring areas and grommets.
Have you cleaned the intake with carb cleaner and a toothbrush? Since your car has gone a long time without tuneup, you could have a nasty buildup at the throttle butterfly. Clean AIC with carb cleaner.
Go through setting basic idle faq on board or check out townsendimports.com tech documents on same subject.
