Could be the fuel cut-off switch located behind the dash. It may be accessable after removing the lower dash knee pad/bolster. It operates by measuring the pressure (via vacuum hose) within the intake manifold. If it passes a certain limit (usually around 12 psi) it cuts the signal sent to the fuel pump. That switch is either faulty, or the connections are loose, or corroded, or there's a faulty connection along the circuit from the switch to the fuse box. I found a faulty connection for that switch circuit at the main multi-plug connection that joins the interior and exterior of the cabin. It's located behind the carpeting mid-way up the left foot well area (where you sit when driving). Until I found the break I had similar symptoms as you describe. To fix I just jumpered the wires beneath the fuse panel (after tracing the matching colored wires from inside to outside the cabin), thus voiding the switch entirely (being since my car never hits the boost limit anyway). Maybe all you need do is reconnect the wire connections on the switch proper.
