Luis, I'm gonna email you so we can talk about local places. I see your email is a Cornell address, what's your affiliation?

JonnyH and others, I never said what was wrong because, well - just by my findings I think it is safe to assume that the tranny is toast, or *might* make it a few more miles here or there. I mean, I'm talking slivers of steel an inch long stuck to the drain plug. That *can't* be a good sign. This weekend, I'm gonna go for a test drive for a mile or two and see if all the gears are still there.

Bill U, my intended use for this car is this - I want a daily driver to get me to work and back (6 or 7 miles) for a month here or there while I have the Corrado off the road. I'd been planning some major-major work on the Corrado this winter (rebuilt bottom end, head swap, ditching the supercharger and switching to a turbo, fueling changes, etc etc) and I wanted to have this Saab as a daily while the Corrado was down. In the long term, the Corrado is going to become more of a project car, so I need a second vehicle - I don't wanna do some temporary thing to this Saab and then have it puke on me in a month. Plus, body wise and engine wise, the Saab is in decent shape.

Now, it's looking like the Corrado will continue to provide transportation while the Saab is down, and then I can put the Corrado up finally and drive the Saab.

Courtney, if you could remember the contact info for that guy you used, I'd appreciate it! That sounds like a cheap rebuild, and if yours is still working after a few years, then it sounds like it was decent quality.

Camm, you said you spent $500. What was that on? Did it cost you $500 just for seals/bearings/gaskets, or are you including extras like the clutch, oil, etc etc. If it is $500 for *just* the seals, bearings, and gaskets, *and* I need a few gears, then I might be getting in over my head.

Thanks everyone for the info! I love Saabnet. :D

-Nate
