Hey all-
Bad news - I think it is worse than I had imagined.
I got all the hoses and tubes and wires back in place this afternoon after work, and I tried to move the car a bit in my driveway. I was ever so gentle and careful, fearing the worst.
Things are definitely in ***BAD SHAPE*** inside that tranny! Sliding it into first and ever so slowly and gently releasing the clutch yielded nothing but bucking and stalling - no forward movement.
Reverse is a complete disaster too. Even with the clutch in, there's a definite grind when putting it into reverse, and trying to let the clutch out resutls in either more grinding, or popping out of gear.
I think it is decision time - I'm gonna try and find a replacement tranny locally, since rebuilding now seems out of the question - both from a complexity standpoint, and from a cost standpoint.
If I can't find a good tranny for cheap, I think the car is either gonna get parted, or sold to a junker.
Thanks again everyone for the thoughts!
-Nate
