Blue hood & red door story... (sorta long)

I have the pleasure of owning 2 C900's. 1) '88 Red 900 sedan. 2) '90 Blue 900 3 door. The red one was parked in a parking lot minding it's own business, when some a%#hole backed in to my driver's door and didn't leave a note. The dent was a cosmetic disturbance, and was large too. There were 3 factors that led me to replace it:
1. Seeing it was unavoidable (it's the driver's door - you look at it each time you get into the car).
2. The price when I found a replacement - $100. There's definitely a strategy to use when seeking a body part (sounds kinda morbid ?). I called used auto parts stores looking for a door and a price, after I discovered that they had the part, I would casually ask "Just out of curiosity, what color is it ?" There was one guy that answered red, and I was down there within an hour. When I got there, he said half jokingly "If I had known your car was red, I would have charged you $200. Nice huh ?
3. The paint had broken, and would eventually rust. Which leads me to the hood...
The '90 900 needed a hood because the front of it was rusted all the way through. Up here in Mass., it won't pass inspection like that so I had no choice. The nice part though was that I conveniently had an '85 900 blue parts car.
Lastly, '87saaber is right about the color. My red door is "redder" than the rest of the car, and my blue hood is lighter than the rest of the car. It seems like I'm the only one that notices though, and I think the benefits of having "good body parts" outweighs the negative side effect of slightly mismatched colors. Just remember, if you're an anally retentive perfectionist, and a Saab C900 owner, you and your money will soon part ways.
