Well, I won't say it's ideal, but it's good. The rear is mostly used for bass... I do have the tweeters angled at the front passengers, but with judicious use of a crossover and equalizer, the rear sound compliments the front rather than overpowers it.
I have an identical 5.25" component setup in the doors up front, with similar positioning. Although the woofers are angled directly at one another which isn't perfect, the bass is improved and over all SQ is way up. The tweeters are similarly angled at the passengers, and imaging is quite good - exceptional even. It took a little work with the fader control and the equalizers, but the end result is a flexible system that better than meets my needs.
The system is composed of:
o Sony CDX-MP70 head
o Sony Xplod 405EQX amp
o Blaupunkt Overdrive components in back
o Polk EX components in front
Total cost was under $800 - most of it was sourced on Ebay. For that price, I've got no complaints whatsoever. And, compared to the system in my friend's dad's 9-5 and the Bose in another friend's Maxima, mine is tangibly better. I don't have the bass that they have as I've not installed the sub yet, but I wanted to be sure everything else was good before moving to the final stage.
