In terms of sound quality, I agree with you. But I'm not willing to compromise my door map pockets or foot room for audio. I looked over and over for the best way to get what I needed, and couldn't really come up with anything that met my needs better. I find the foot room in a 900 to be a little lacking as it is, and tying up more space down there doesn't meet with my approval... ;)
As for sound distribution, I went with the rear speakers strictly for bass * midbass. I used components 'cause that's what I had around at the time. It's actually quite nice to have highs back there from time to time. Some music I like a good sound stage up front, but sometimes it's nice to have full-range throughout the car. I listen to a fair amount of electronica & techno, and much of it really makes use of all four speakers.
When out on the road with a thumping techno soundtrack, I want to be in the music. Nothing is better than BT or Orbital making full use of all four corners of the car. Although, I must admit, sometimes when you've got someone in the rear passenger seat talking to you, it can be a little distracting... ;)
