'Fraid I can't imagine paying all that money for a car that isn't worth $2000 ('85 900 8V). If it gets wrecked, I just go out and buy another one for the money I saved by not fully insuring it!
It really depends on your current cash flow situation - if you can have the car totaled but still go out and buy something to replace it without feeling a hit to your lifestyle, then I'd never opt for the extra insurance since it doesn't make sense. On the other hand, if buying another car right now would be a major stress on your pocketbook, and the current insurance you're paying isn't causing any issues for you, I'd say to keep it.
