I know Honda person after Honda person (I only live a few miles from Marysville and East Liberty) that will rave about how their car has never let them down while I am always doing something to my Saab. To which I always reply, "Let's talk when you get to 243,000 miles".
While I am always doing something it is in an efort to keep her running as good as I can. While most all of the Honda drivers I know are NBG (nothing But Gas) When I replaced an original CV joint w/230k miles on it last year they where amazed it lasted that long. My reply was that if you checked you boots form time to time instead of waiting for a "click click click" yours might last a little longer as well.
I have a good friend who's never done a thing to his 94 Integra. He's had 70k repair free miles. Oil, gas, a set of pads and tires is all he's done. And now at 124k with the tranny starting to act up (5speed that had 44k on it when he bought it. How much you want to bet it's go tthe original gear lube in it?) he's looking to ditch it ASAP. But he will always talk of his perfect Integra that never let him down.
A lot of Honda/Japanese buyers are looking for a car that will run a long time without any maintance.
We on this board on the other hand (for the most part as the last of the C900 are pushing ten years old) like to get our hands dirty.
Switching from a C900 to a Honda will either make you happy or bored.
I've been to perfect car land, I got bored and came back.
