I'm not sure of the draw of the clock and misc, but someone posted the warning level recently. Maybe over 300 milliamps and you have a problem.
To check the ground potential use a voltmeter between grounds with the car running. If your more than a 500 millivolts ( 0.5 volts) between grounds, I believe you have a problem. Looking at it another way, if the resistance between the battery neg and the main ground at the radiator crossmember is more than a few ohms, you have a problem. It really should be less than an ohm. That's why you need to run a thick copper cable from your battery up to the front of the engine compartment. You can shine the metal under the rear seat forever but sheet metal will never conduct like copper.
I would have to look up the resistance/foot of wire of various wire gauges in my bosch pocket reference, which isn't in my pocket right now. I do know that the resistance from my battery cable to the block is between 0.1-0.2 ohms, cause I checked it during a recent alternator failure episode. From your seatbelt bolt to the rediator crossmember, i'll bet you might see >5ohms.
I'll try to check over the weekend and post the results.
