I switched my '90 NA over at 120k miles with no problems (now at 160k). You don't say what you're currently using. If a dino, I'd take Dick's advice & use a gentle cleaner. Besides his suggestions, I've heard really good things about Auto-Rx.
With a turbo, I think the best thing you can do is go with a Group IV full syn oil. From everything I've read, they offer better protection after 10k miles than ANY dino oil will after only 1k-2k miles. That means you can create less waste AND spend less time changing oil AND save money AND get better protection in the whole process. Even without a turbo, I just don't understand why anyone wouldn't want all that?
