You really need to check your fuel pressure. It works like this: The fuel pump will generate about 90 psi (6 bar) at stall (pressurizing a closed system). The checkvalve and the fuel pressure regulator allow the fuel rail to remain pressurized after the pump is shut off, it has no effect on running pressure as long as it will open under pressure. The fuel pressure regulator moderates the fuel pressure to 2.5-3.0 bar (36-44 psi) (without vacuum on the nipple). This will occur as long as there is no restriction on the return line to the tank. If this is blocked by a standard *supply* line checkvalve, the system will be pressurized to the stall pressure of the fuel pump (6 bar!). This will lead to rich running, possible check engine lights. This elevated pressure can pop rubber fuel lines off and cause a safety hazard. Please make sure that the checkvalve 4161766 listed on saabsite is NOT in the return line, for your safety. If you have discarded and removed the old return line reverse flow valve, just remove the end of the checkvalve and you will be left with a clear elbow which is what you want here.
