Like a miss? Mine did that when I bought it, $50 worth of plugs, cap and rotor and that was gone. Mine is not as fast as a lot of SPGs (or even Turbos for that matter), but that's what happens with that kind of mileage on the "performance" model (173K in my case). FWIW, mine is a 91, it is *red*, and the paint and interior are in pretty damn good shape. The tranny needs work (mostly my fault), and the headgasket is starting to go (my doing there too), as well as the turbo (you guessed it) but I have no choice to see these as opportunities to UPGRADE! Sure its a lot of money, but over time it will be feasable. I paid $4500 for the car when it had 140K a year and a half ago. I consider it a good deal, as it is one of 40, and the seller just didn't have a clue what they had.

If it were up to me, and they would part with it for a price you are able/willing to pay, jump on it. If possible, bring some good spark plugs (NGK BCP7EV is ideal, but down to BCP6ES will work if you don't want to spend too much) to at least give you an idea whether or not the lack of power is due to the current state of tune. These are VERY finicky cars and if the planets aren't lined up, they will not be as fast. You should feel pretty close to "neck-snapping" torque at around 3000 rpm in the first two gears.

Just be sure to go over the basics: tranny, headgasket, turbo, cooling system, and finally: tranny.

Best of luck, and thanks for the horn button, much more piece of mind now when I find myself in the blind spot of an Excursion at 75mph.
