Changed tie-rod, strange handling!

I changed my right tie-rod yesterday, along with just the boot on the left PS rack / tie-rod on my 85 900 Turbo. The right tie-rod was totally dry at the Power Steering socket! I carefully measured and marked the distances to the tie-rod ends so I could try and get everything back together the way it was, but after driving the car I think I'm going to have to get an alignment. It tracks pretty straight, maybe pulls left a bit. The steering wheel is now too far off center (to the right). The strange thing is that there seems to be some wheels hop or “scuffing” when I turn at a fairly slow speed, or when I hit a bump the car seems to hop to the right slightly.
I was under the assumption that tie-rod position only effected the toe-in of the wheels. When I look at the car from the front the tops of the front tires seem to lean out further than the bottom. I can't be sure if it was like that before the tie-rod replacement, as I haven't had the car that long.
All the other suspension parts seemed tight yesterday when I was checking them out. Could the lack of alignment cause this? To the best of my knowledge I put everything back together properly.
Sorry for the long message, thanks in advance.
John
