Hi, Friends...

This week we had the motor mounts replaced in our '93 900 (automatic, gasp!) When emerging from the service center, I noticed that the car seemed to sound different (which I was told it would, since it probably sounded odd due to the bad motor mounts...okay...I could accept that.) HOwever, from the very next time I started the car, I noticed that the "check engine" light came on, and it has been on since. I called the garage immediately, and they said to bring it in. I did, and after nearly 2 hours, they could only say that their computer seemed to suggest it's the "O2 sensor" causing this, and that now we need to put MORE money into the car to have that fixed.

This concerns me because this was not happening until they changed the motor mounts on the car. Furthermore, when they were checking the car yesterday, and it was up on the thing-a-ma-jig, I mentioned that it sounded strange, and the mechanic agreed. I don't know what that means, but thought I'd better add it to my list of woes here in case someone out there can help me to obtain the proper terminology to suggest what might have occurred here.

I did notice that from the time they changed the motor mounts, the car has been leaking both oil and transmission fluid, and we called immediately and told them so, but they said that was normal, and due to the car having been "upside down" (that's what he said) while they replaced motor mounts.

Sigh. Any ideas? I'm concerned, because I just talked with them on the phone and they said that now the problem is the O2 sensor and I will have to pay to have that fixed. If the O2 sensor was problematic, why did the "check engine" light and its accompanying problem only emerge following the replacement of the motor mounts?

Thanks for any advice/ideas/guidance you might have to offer.

Julia
