I assume that you've been checking the coolant level?

A stupid question but you have been checking the coolant level occasionally? The level should be between the marks on the tan reservoir in front of the driver.

You might try running the car at idle for an extended period of time (10 minutes) - have the hood up and pay attention to the large (diameter of your wrist) hoses running to and from the radiator. These are the places where coolant would leak. They're quite easy to replace (and cheap) at the site sponsoring parts vendors.

I'm guessing that it is either hose #15 or #3 in the picture here: http://www.eeuroparts.com/images/saab/diagrams/16vntcoolsys.gif

The fluctuating idle is almost certainly caused by a vacuum hose that they knocked off while replacing your motor mounts. look for a loose black rubber hose about the diameter of a pencil. I'm guessing the loose hose is in the vicinity of the intake manifold (silver, runs from the air filter to the top of the engine) , which is above the oil filter.

As RS suggests, the oxygen sensor is not a hard thing to replace. Perhaps you could make a deal with the motor mount guys, you buy the part and they install it for free (rationale being that they were the ones to get oil on it and wreck it).

As for turning the car upside down - no way! - they're talking down to you. You might want to check the saabnet suggested service listings: http://saabnet.com/tsn/faq/service/me.html
