Which model? Turbo or Non Turbo? There are three mounts on a 900.
The front mount is just behind the radiator. If the mechanic removed the radiator and transmission cooler to get at it then that could be a source of leaks if not reinstalled correctly.
The passenger side mount is behind/below the exhaust manifold. Sounds like they took the exhaust manifold off to get at the passenger side mount and have not replaced a gasket or tightened the system back up correctly. Is your change in sound an exhaust noise or a mechanical noise? The sound could be an exhaust leak. If you have a turbo, they may have disturbed something on the wastegate valve or other related parts. Other than the noise is the performance the same? If they failed to reconnect the O2 sensor or damaged the wiring in removing some exhaust part then the check engine light wll come on. Board sponsors sell Bosch three wire sensors for about $75 which can be spliced into the existing harness.
The driver's side mount is the hardest to replace, its down under the master cylinder which is bolted to the firewall and restricts access to the mount. I believe some on this board remove the A/C compressor and alternator to get at the mount. If they did that and knocked off an electrical connection or vacuum connection then the check engine light would come on.
I can think of no situation where your engine would be upside down. Loss of fluids suggest they created leaks which can happen when original connections are disturbed, but they should be tracked down and corrected. Don't run that automatic if you are losing transmission fluid (which will be red) and watch for a loss of coolant (yellow-green) as failure of the transmission or head gasket is very expensive.
Try to describe the noise to us and tell us where the leaks are appearing (right front vs left side, etc) and we will try to help. And stay on the mechanic, maybe start getting things in writing. Where are you located, maybe we can recommend a better mechanic. Which mechanic are you using? Maybe someone here knows them and could speak to them for you.
