I had a very FAST '88 SPG. It didn't have any of the aftermarket go fast parts. Just stock, BUT absolutely impeccably tuned by a master Saab mechanic. He removed the CAT, and fiddled with the adjustments. It was just about perfect. I had fun with it, not against any other cars, but just for myself. The acceleration rush, the sound of the turbo spooling up, it was beautiful (until some bonehead rear ended me sitting still at a light and the car was totalled) But, in a real world, against the newer cars, it was no match couple of times I tried. I tried keeping up to a Cadillac CTS. He just pulled away from me. Newer cars, even some SUV's, many can do 0 to 60 in less than 7 seconds these days. My SPG never came even close to beating that. Even on highway passing, an Eldorado pulled away from me. May be I shouldn't mess with Caddys? Anyways, still trying to find the replacement for my '88 SPG...
I'll try some go fast parts on my next SPG and see what happens :)
Jim from Michigan (still mourning the loss of my SPG after 5 months)
