question is, does the low fuel light come on when the ignition is first turned on?
If it does, and the low fuel light doesn't come on when running and down to around 2 gallons, then the problem is likely in the fuel gauge/sender. Perhaps if the light has never been on (filled at the 8-9 gal level) the contact(s) are corroded with the high sulfur gas we use in US.
