Gut feel...keep the 87...

BUT...keep the car that has the best body...get under them and look gor rust under the front driveshaft apertures and around the wheel arches...mechanicals can always be fixed...bodies are more difficult to repair...
16V engines are bullet proof BUT 2.1s DO have head gasket issues.
The 91 G'box has the better pinion bearing...BUT whines are whines and symptomatic of a soon rebuild! Soooo...if that 87 is pretty nice...that's the one to keep up...at this point they are both over 10 years old and so it's about condition not milage....my 85 has 275K on it and is near mint...no rust...i've had it 11 years and it will outlive me I'm certain. (I'm 41)!
