All depending on year/model, 1 or 2 fans should run. In the later models (I think 90 and up) non turbo models only have one fan running over the fan switch. Turbo have both. And both fans comes on when A/C is on (if working).
On earlier models both fans comes on over the fan switch but also when the A/C turns on.
It is an intricate wiring system with relays in between that are suppose to be triggered in a certain way for both fans to come on.
I can't in writing explain how it works.
Fan switch and thermostat is the first thing to replace, next is to replace/remove fantime relay on left inner fender, than the A/C cooling fan relay in relay box.
OR? Just plug in the disconnected fan motor on driver side that the former owner disconnected because it was blowing the fuse for A/C. If that's the case you need a new fan motor.
Good luck
