In the many ways these 2 cars are different..... the 9-3 still has great SAAB engineering and improves on convenience, mobility within the car, and the driving experience. The hatch in the 9-3 sits in a deeper pocket. It has a rear edge to it, unlike the C900. With the seats folded down it looks to have more cargo room...but isn't as wide as the C900.
Correct about the visability being more limited in the 9-3. You seem to sit lower in the car. Curbs and lower visibility is limited.
But just as the C900 drew me in with style, ergonomic placement and being so fun to drive... the 9-3 has all that as well as many more refined SAAB improvements. Temp control, button placement, and convenience. Many of these improvements just come with owning a newer car offering more for the driver...airbags, alarm (with fuel disable), info display, economy. These 2 are definately siblings... but of a different generation. I go from the C900T to the 9-3 Viggen without missing a beat... and enjoying both.
That aside I will say the Viggen is sometimes impractical for daily commuting. Only because its such a powerful car that it can hardly be driven the way it wants to in the daily grind. But every once in awhile it gets to stretch.....It is definately a fun car to drive.
