or at least mostly equivalent, I can respond with a comparison of my '97 900set to my two classic 900's (a 4d 900s and a 2d 900t). The NG900 is faster, but it handles worse. The auto tranny on the NG is much better (if you're in to that). The interior is more comfortable, especially with the automatic AC, but it has no style. The hatchback on the NG900 is not as useful both from the awkward entry point to the reduced width between the rear wheels, but the NG does have split fold down rear seats and a ski pass thru. The stock stereo (came with an amp and base speakers on the SE) on the NG is much, much better.
Despite what might seem like a glowing review of the NG900, I still gave mine to my fiance in favor of a (new to me) '92 900t. We always take the NG900 on long trips and always drive the C900 in town.
