I'm looking to turn my 5-speed '88 900 into a winter-specific car. I need a little help though. I live in upstate NY and got a little annoyed last year when the temperature didn't get above 20 for a month and a half. I want to turn my slug into a sled!
1. Are the so-called "winter" wiper blades any good? I've had problems with the Micro-Edge blades accumulating ice and streaking/not wiping the glass.
2. Is there a suggested ambient temperature range for a warmer thermostat? I've got a new radiator, healthy cooling system, the cold-value thermoswitch, and the former AC switch controls the auxiliary cooling fan.
3. 5W-30, already in.
4. Four Hakkas, already done. I may stud the next set.
5. That ever-so-tempting washer fluid heater setup- do you just wrap a longer washer hose around the upper radiator hose a few times?
6. Is there a cold-temp range spark plug to use?
7. Block heater- worth it? Is it expensive to operate?
