1. Use only Bosch wiper blades since they seem to be best at contouring the windshield. The winter blades reduce the amount of snow and ice buildup by not providing any solid surfaces or crevaces for it to form on the metal part of the blade back.

4. Studded hakkas are very good, especially on ice.

5. Probably lots of ways to do this. I think the ultimate would be some sort of small liquid-liquid heat exchanger sitting behind the radiator. A metal pipe sitting atop the engine would probably work too, as long as the pipe held enough fluid for several squirts.

7. I don't have a blockheater on my Saab. I'd like one though, and if I got one, I'd definitely put it on a timer. Electric heated anything is expensive if your electricy is expensive, and ours is very expensive. At work, we have an electric heater on the diesel generator so that the generator is warm and ready to go at a moment's notice. I'm sure it's not an expense the average individual would want to pay for.

If you've got more money to spend...

There are electrically heated wiper blades available - probably the ultimate in winter driving. see google.

Springs and shocks. After traction, winter driving performance is all about handling. Weight transfers and other fun bits of driving physics that were hard or illegal to explore on dry public roads are every day events in the snow. You get to practice all this stuff with less grip and slower speeds. Any handling upgrades you do are easy to enjoy on snow. Some performance oriented springs with some bilsteins or konis will be enjoyable. You don't really need a turbo to enjoy snow driving. (A turbo is very powerful at zero fahrenheith though!)
