I lived in Syracuse for 5 years as a student with my 85 spg, still driving it. I agree with RS that decent set of all-seasons are fine as the CNY snow is always really wet but snows on spare rims are ideal. My attitude with tires has always been "if they look aggressive, the are aggressive."
Not a big fan of my Gislaved Nordfrost II's though. More like an all season tire in snow.
I think corrosion prevention should be a focus. CNY did a job on my doorjams and front end as well as suspension areas and rear hatch. I met a mechanic who was a proponent of filling the doors and fenders with chain saw bar oil and then draining. Kinda wish I did that.
1. I'm a big fan the winter wiper blades even though they don't hit corners
5. An experimental option might be to loop some extra silicone vacuum hose and run it in an out of the the spark plug/wire cavity. That would be easy to do and probably wouldn't get too hot. Then again, perhaps not hot enough. Wouldn't take a lot to find out. -Steve
