Car had 127K miles, one assumes it was the original AMM. First sensor, the one that went bad from susected anti-freeze poisoning, had only 10K on it. The second one, swiped from another car, I tried had about 7K on it. So old sensors weren't the problem.
Good point, that there is no direct connection between the AMM and sensor. But it sure seems odd, how often you find a smoking gun, yet it doesn't fix it, in fact, the more you work on it, and test things, the worse it runs. On the our other dead car, which was running great but warm starting poorly, when I put a fuel pressure gauge on it the pressure was 87 psi - the FPR was locked solid. A smoking gun, huh? But replacing it made absolutely no difference! Hmmmm... wonder how long it was running that way?
