I have a 1986 Saab 900, 8v, that needs new front brake pads. I took it in to a couple shops, and both said it needed new rotors on the front, but one place said they could still be turned. When they went to put in the new pads, they couldn't get the pistons to go back in the calipers... so now it needs new calipers also. What I'm wondering is, should I have them turn the rotors, or just get new ones. Also, there are plenty of '85 900 brake pads/rotors/and even calipers on ebay for much cheaper. Would the rotors & pads fit for an 1985, fit an 86?? Also I have found a lot of good 87 calipers. I think they changed from 86, but would could I put new 87 calipers on my 86? So to sum up:
Do I need loaded or unloaded caliipers? What's the difference?
How would I, and how hard is it to rebuild calipers?
Could I use a set of 85 pads, rotors & calipers on my 86?
Could I use a set of 87 pads, rotors & calipers on my 86?
Can I interchange any combination of 85 or 87 pads, rotors & calipers?
Or, do I Have to use all 86 parts?
Any suggestions on the lowest priced place to find these items? - all for the front. Thanks!
