Resistance checks would be helpful if there is something really majorly wrong with the AMM - like a broken wire. But if the AMM is merely flaky, resistance measurements probably won't help.
The typical AMM failure is due to corrosion on the board. There is some circuitry inside that shifts output due to that corrosion. This is active circuitry - it works when powered. So you won't see anything with a resistance check, most probably.
