the spring in the clutch master has broken and it can't retract to the home position. After a while, a varnish ring develops around the mouth of the cylinder and makes it even less likely to retract all the way. When it's in that position, the seal covers the fluid refresh hole, making it very difficult to force fluid past it.
I've had 2 that failed this way. I rebuilt the last one and have had no problems in the year since I rebuilt it.
Good to hear that you haven't had problems with them. And, as always, remember that there's more than one way to skin the proverbial cat.
