I do the same thing (reverse bleed) with a 60cc syringe and a piece of tubing.
I always pump up the clutch this way, then suction out the fluid reservoir,
then refill. No chunks get into the brakes, DUH.
With a used clutch master cylinder, sometimes the piston does not retract
far back enough to allow free bleeding. You can replace w/ a new one (I've
done that on one car) or try to force it back by applying pressure (I've done
that on one car w/ 80psi shop air). Then bleed - whatever direction - as
normal.
