I didn't have to swap, but I did bearings & seals in the inner drivers. When you take them both out, the differential falls down.
The EASY way to deal with that is to have the back cover off. Then (laying underneath the tranny) you can hold the differential upright as you install the drivers.
I don't remember what year car you have, but most(?) trannys don't have a drain bolt. You have to take that back cover off when you change oil. Even if you have a drain bolt, it's real easy to remove the cover & look around in there. Have a new gasket...
