It's a good old Chevy 5.7 liter V8 with the throttle-body EFI system. It's a pretty basic, non high-performance engine that makes gobs of torque, and doesn't have an AMM. For this engine, I just revved the engine up to about 2000 RPM, and then poured the water in the throttle body alongside the fuel the EFI system was injecting. The engine slowed down quite a bit, and it produced a huge cloud of white smoke as all the water steamed off. RPM's will go down a little bit. Be mindful of your RPM's and don't let the engine stall!
I will say however that on this particular engine, which has about 250,000miles on it at the time I did it, the job worked quite well, but it DID produce a 'check engine" light and a clogged catylithic converter just like you mentioned! It does knock out a lot of dirt and trash. This old van had one of those ancient pellet type converters, so It was due to get replaced with a higher-flow honeycomb 3-way anyways!
