Beg to differ, kinda Posted by Camm [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: what to do with a dead 900 in west IL, near iowa?, rob ![]() |
Betsy, I really feel for you. I wish I could give you some good advice regarding your dead 900, but I dont think I can. However, I have to disagree with Rob - Over the past 6 years, I've owned 2 old 900's (500K combined) and a 9-3 (as well as 2 VW's a Pontiac and an Audi), and lived with (and next to) the owners of a 96 9000 CS (145k), a 94 9000 cs (165k), a 93 9000 Aero (155k mi), an 01 9-5 Aero, and an 00 9-5 SE. The Saabs, have all been significantly more reliable than the other cars owned by me, my friends & my neighbors. Yes, old 900's do have some fiddly issues, and a few catastrophic failure modes. However, while everyone has their own experiences with cars, mine with Saabs have all been good. A 92 9000 is a very good car and does not have the same problems as an old style 900. In fact, a '92 with 89,000 miles sounds like something worth a long look. I would find out as much as you can about the car from the seller - ie known problems, recent fixes etc and then investigate further on the 9000 BB to see if it is something you should consider.
Good Luck Betsy.
