Saabs pre-GM had a very distinctive design personality. It made them unique and attractive. When you saw a Saab on the road, you knew it was a Saab from a distance. The same thing can be said for Volvo. GM came in and gave Saab the life support they needed to stay alive, but they took from Saab their unique personality. Today, if you see a new Saab on the road, it looks like many other euro-sedans. If you don't notice the Griffin or the grill, you wonder what it is at first.
Ford did one good thing with Volvo, it left it its own unique design personality and you can still tell a Volvo just by looking at it. However, they didn't do that with Jags, the newer Jags look a lot like a Taurus to me!
I really think that if GM would allow Saab to go back to what made it unique, it would do better.
My .02 cents.
