Hello MS.
The car was originally an auto. I swapped out the auto for an 89 manual tranny about six months ago. Prior to fitting the manual transmission I had it rebuilt by a local SAAB specialist just to be safe.
The transmission was brought from a wrecker and had no known problems prior to the rebuild. I have not had much of a chance of doing any diagnostics as the car will be towed back home tomorrow. What I can confirm though is that the inner drives would not move when a gear was selected and that the clutch and gear selection feels normal. Due to a lack of noise when the problem occurred I think it may be the shaft that goes from the clutch to the tranny that has moved out of position. When the shaft was installed no clips etc were used to hold it in place! Could this be the problem or is there some other mechanism that stops the shaft from moving out of position?
