A arm monthly reminder

Check Your Lower A-arms !
I had one give up on me today going down the road.
I was driving my '83 down a residential street on the way to work. I get to an intersection that doesn't have any stop signs and as I'm getting to the intersection there's another car approaching to my right, so I got on the brake a little, to let the other person go first >>> BANG <<< I thought my front wheel fell off or something because it sounded like metal dragging on the pavement.
And that was it, the car rolled a few feet and stopped cold. The lower arm broke in half , the axle popped out, the tire jammed against the back of the wheel well and of course I was late for work and got to go for a tow truck ride.
But really, I think I got very lucky. I could have been in traffic or going a lot faster when it happened.
So that's my word of caution if you haven't checked yours lately.
