No start after major work.

I just finished the head gasket and she wont start.
Spins quick.
Has fuel.
I forget a couple of things,
what orientation should the dist be in? About horizontal or a bit CW or CCW?
The 3 wire plus to the dist is messy but not too bad. So I'm thinking since there is fuel there should be spark in an 86 right? I'm alone so I can't check for spark right now. I'm thinking the timing is AFU, there is a mark on the valve cover gasket and on the dist, but I'm not trusting it - well since it wont start when they are lined up!!
I've double checked that all the wires are connected.
The only changes are the injectors - took soem later model ones since more than one were leaking. New plugs - NGK iridium and I left the crush ring on them. The AMM is a spare since I know the other one was not right.
I did not gap the new plugs - any spec on these? I thought they were pregapped.
Any ideas?
I bet I'll start right up after I hit POST!
Thanks!!
