I have an auto in my 89 C900TC, it does not accelerate fast but once she's up to speed, she's fine. It depends upon your driving habits, the auto with the vert is good for cruising. If I want speed, I just hop onto my 91 C900T! I do about 22-23MPG combined highway/city driving. I normally cruise around 75-80MPH. So far it's been good to me, of course I do maintenance religously.
One thing when you're looking for auto's, they have to shift up and down smoothly. Should not be jerking around when shifting.
