I have an 88 C900 auto, it runs pretty good. I usually cruise between 65-75. I live in eastern Ma and find that is a good speed to get me where I want to go and avoid the added costs of speeding tickets.
I get 24-27 mpg and find it satisfying when filling up next to an SUV tanker.
It isn't a rocket on take off, but since I'm not an astronaut, that's ok. It has decent acceleration if I use high test, and once rolling, it's pretty quick between 50 and 75. I once had it to 95, but felt rather foolish for driving like a maniac.
My wife drives it and really likes the car. Would I buy another and would I like a 5 speed, yes on both counts, but the autos is ok.
Your personal preference will rule the day.
BTW, anyone that wishes to part with their auto can give it to me.
Those that cruise at 90+, please don't hit the back of my SAAB, you can hit the back of my caravan.
