Glad I was mostly civil! I just couldn't believe you went to such lengths to gain access to the rot (creating more structural instability), then slapped a band aid on an open wound!
However, I see now that you are pretty comfortable this sort of work & are capable of going back to do a better job when time permits...too much duplicative labor for me - I'd take the bus until it was finished.
I'm not sure how badly the rust has progressed on my LR shock tower, there is just a little bubbling (yeah, I know what might be under it) - I haven't mustered the will to start scraping the caulk out yet & got distracted with a $500 87' 900t (rust free :) junkyard find. You've inspired me though...& I'm going to break out the grinder.
