This one's got me. The thing is... everything is working perfectly if I use my old ECU (ie my old -582 starts er right up). Only when I swap in the new ECU does it not start. So I know its something in that ECU that's causing something else (i think in ignition system) to not function properly.

I'm starting to think... check out the below TSB I just found. Before the recall, I know that the following was done to my car to correct a CE light... There's a piece of harness (service wiring harness) from the LH harness to the EGR temp sensor. I left that connected. I'm going to disconnect that and see if this'll enable the new ECU to work) A crapshoot I know but...

Service Wiring Harness Installation

After completing all of the component checks and correcting any faults found, install the service wiring harness, P/N 02 45 258 in between the two halves of the 2-pole connector for the EGR system NTC sensor (Figure 4).

Clear all fault codes from the system and road test the car to verify the repair.
