ECU - if I remove it, will I get spark still?

Yeah that makes sense -- I'm all ass backwards. I've got fuel (at least some of it), power to injectors.
Let me ask ya this -- if I disconnect the ECU entirely from the car ... if I crank then, should I have spark?

A new ECU should NOT affect the ignition system - that works entirely based on the Hall-Effect sensor, the ignition control unit, and the coil. As long as that stuff is working, the ignition system will.
The only connection between the fuel and ignition system is one wire that sends a tach signal to the ECU. I'd be more inclined to say your issue is fuel related, but you'll need to check for power at the injectors to know whether it's a "no fuel" issue, or a "wrong amount of fuel" issue.
