I don't have garage space. I live in Maine, where salt is freely used. My '90 red SPG is a summer driver only, from Cal. No rust, nice car, like to keep it that way. Here's my approach:
----First snow, clean, wax, put 4 trays of mothballs in, cover exhaust with plastic, remove battery. Then I apply a decent cover (breathable Evolution-type, $150). Sits there all winter under the snow.
----After last snow (April), I wait until we've had at least 2 good rain storms to wash the salt off of the roads. Remove mothballs, remove tailpipe cover, install battery, and it's ready to go. Wash and clean as necessary. Seems to start before the engine turns over once!
Been doing this since 2002. I know it's not what some would want, but it's what I CAN do. New house on the way, may reserve one of the garage bays for the SPG and still put the cover on.
